Hi, I’m Sara, the Wizard of Wonder, and these are my friends Mandy, Vicky, and Emily.

You’ll see one (or all) of us teaching flower classes every week. In real life, we’re florists, wedding planners, and swim teachers. And, along with our other incredible volunteers, we make up the heart and soul of Bloomhaven.

Bloomhaven isn’t just another nonprofit—it’s a reflection of what we believe in and the children we serve. We’re here to ignite change that matters, led entirely by volunteers and by a shared commitment to give our students a safe place to blossom.

Core Programs & Impact

  • School of Floralcraft & Artistry: This immersive program teaches teens in foster care the fundamentals of floral and event design, including budgeting, palette curation, and structural builds.

  • Floral Art Therapy: For younger children in group homes (ages 6+), the foundation provides free weekly classes where working with flowers serves as a tool for healing, confidence, and behavioral stability.

  • Vocational Success: Older students (ages 18–25) can participate in a paid internship program, gaining real-world experience by working on professional weddings and events alongside the Scarlet & Co. and Forever Flowers team.

  • Reach: In our first year, the foundation provided training and therapy for over 220 children across the Lowcountry

  • Expanded Training: We are working toward expanding classes to include music, catering and pastry arts

  • Ongoing Support: Providing housing assistance, job placement, and long-term mentorship for graduates transitioning to independent living.

Group Homes We Serve

What began as a work-study program led by Sara Skinner of Scarlet & Co for 10 teens in November 2024 has quickly blossomed into an initiative serving hundreds of children in group homes across the Lowcountry. In our very first year we have provided job training and floral art therapy classes for more than 250 children ages 6 through 21 years old. And we’re just getting started!

Please reach out directly to have us bring classes to your facility or school. Classes are 100% free for children living in foster care, group homes, orphanages, behavioral facilities, rehabs, DDSN, DSS, or DJJ placements. That’s right. Classes are free and always will be.

Our volunteers are CPI trained with a focus on trauma-informed care.

Landmarks for Families

Fun fact: Landmarks is the very first group home to host Bloomhaven classes! Founded in 1790 as the Charleston Orphan House, it was the first publicly-funded municipal orphanage in the United States. Now located in North Charleston, Landmarks serves youth with residential services and community support for families.

Pinelands Purposes

Located in Summerville, SC, Pinelands/Purpose-SC offers a safe, therapeutic environment for adolescents (ages 13–19) who may have experienced neglect, abuse, or trauma.

Windwood Farm Home for Boys

The 110 acre farm provides long-term residential treatment for young boys (typically ages 6–16) who have experienced severe abuse, neglect, or behavioral issues.

Doors to Freedom

Doors to Freedom is currently the only residential placement in South Carolina specifically for young girls who have been victims of sex trafficking (typically ages 12-21), operating two homes in the Lowcountry.

Compass Harbor

The organization aims to bridge the gap between foster care and independent adulthood, a transition during which many young people are at high risk for homelessness, human trafficking, or involvement with the criminal justice system.

Springbrook Behavioral Health

Springbrook is a psychiatric hospital and residential treatment facility in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, specializing in the treatment of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex behavioral challenges. Springbrook offers one of the few programs in South Carolina catering to children as young as five years old.

Crosswell Children’s Home

The organization operates a 28-acre campus in Sumter, SC. They provide 24/7 care for up to 30 children, ranging from birth to 21 years of age, who are unable to live with their families due to abuse, neglect, abandonment, or family crises.
